It's not bleeding, it looks almost like a blood blister in a segment of her toe. No blood on the shavings, just on her toe.
But the other chicks won't leave it alone, they think it's something good to eat!
We separated her but she's out there peeping so loud and she looks so sad :-(

How long will it take to heal and what is it?

You may need to lance it, so it drains. It will heal faster that way.

If it looks like a blood blister, could you pop it and then put some new skin over the affected area? It works great on chickens......and it's not that noticeable. Or could you maybe put a transparent sports bandage kind of wrapped around the toe?

Just a few ideas......

If I pop it will I need to put antiseptic on it? Use a pin to pop it?
I'm not liking to thought of hurting my chickie! Will it hurt her much if I do?

i guess you could pop it with a pin, and make sure to sterilize everything, too, including the toe. Whiskey works if you dont have anything official. personally, id just leave it though, and watch to see if it got worse. And if you do mess with it, the others may just peck at it more if its freshy bleeding, but idk about that part. if you do decide to wait, just put something way interesting in the pen to occupy the chicks, like sliced tomatos, or some other scraps. good luck.
