I am so sorry to hear about Frankie. I am sorry you still have some tough decisions in front of you. I am sure you will make the best choice for Frankie whatever that decision is. I will hoping for the best for Frankie.

Thank you for your kind words. I'm going to think it over about the biopsy, and make sure the vet thinks it'll actually help or if it will just give us an answer. I'm glad I'm not ambulatory for the next 4 weeks so I can spend a lot of time with her. I'll do my best to keep her comfortable and happy, and still try to stay hopeful too. I have to keep her stress down the vet said too, so we'll see how the foot soaking and spraying Microcyn goes.

Thank you Lydia, it's devastating news for sure. I only did the recheck bloodwork as a precaution. She's been totally normal, and running around with the ducklings. I saw the ulcer sores when she was preening on Sunday. She already had the vet appointment today because of her abnormal bloodwork.

Posting this is probably more of a release than anything.
Update on my Franker Beans: she's on her second day of Metacam, Baytril, and Doxycycline. She's been getting nightly 20 min Epsom salt foot soaks, and neosporin/Vetrocyn spray treatment afterwards. In addition to her water, I've been giving "flock emergency 911 (pre and probiotics, Oregano, electrolytes), turmeric, and a splash of ACV.
I've been giving her food galore of kale, mealworms, arugula, romaine, cooked carrots, peas, and green beans, banana, and tried watermelon (she's not a fan of watermelon), along with her layer pellets that have brewers yeast mixed in.
I'm trying to keep her crop and belly full to handle the meds.
Her energy is still great, she's splashing water to bath/preening, walking around with the ducklings, eating, drinking, and being her sweet self. Her feet still have ulcers, but haven't gotten worse.
I'm trying to stay hopeful. My girls have proven to be tough as nails, and will fight with every ounce of their being. I love my Frankie more than words can express. I'm so thankful for my surgery enabling me so much time with her.

Thank you for checking on her! She's still acting totally normal. She's eating, drinking, preening, and happy. Despite the Epsom foot soaks, and meds, her feet joints are still puffy. The ulcers look better though. I did decide to go ahead with the biopsy on her feet this Tuesday. I'm nervous beyond measure, but we need to know what's going on to treat her adequately. They have to sedate her, and that's the scariest part. I wish I could explain to her that we're doing all this to help her. My poor baby has endured so much, and I just want her feet to get better. She's been a trooper with the meds and treatments. They stress her out, but she's tough. Please keep sending positive energy her way! I'll definitely give an update Tuesday, and again when we get results. I appreciate your lady's care so so so much

I've asked him, and he thinks it's something from the inside that moved to the outside (ulcers being secondary). I mentioned it again in an email I sent him a couple days ago, asking him if he's going to debride other affected areas of her feet while she's out because her middle digit has more of brown-blackish scab that looks like bumblefoot. He replied that he's going clean up both feet while she's sedated.
I'm going to bring it up again at surgery check-in tomorrow morning as well, because if it's Bumblefoot then I want him to remove all the "kernels" and flush all the puffy areas out. I don't want to have to sedate her twice if the biopsy comes back, and it ends up presenting like a bumblefoot infection. He is an avian specialist, and sees a lot of ducks, so I'm putting a lot of trust in him vs the vet I used for Grace that only worked in AG for school. Not saying Grace would've been saved by this new vet, but I'm glad this other vet sees ducks regularly.
I lost an African Grey parrot due to anesthesia for a crop flush in 2014. It was in Alaska with a dog only vet, so I'm trying to stay more positive Frankie will be ok.
