2 week old cayuga ducks -EMERGENCY-

I did call and they said that they didn't know. We have been researching symptoms all day and it looks identical to duck viral hepatitis. We have no idea what to do

Yes we did contact hoover and ask them they said we are doing everything were suppose to do. Didn't really help much but i guess they tried. Update on our sick ducklings- the one that was in really bad shape and couldn't walk seems to be doing a little bit better its hard to tell for sure but its drinking a little water and eating a little food all on its own and it can finally use its legs just a little but still seems to just lay and open and close its beak as it breathes I'm not sure if thats a symptom or not. Still really worried and don't know if its gonna make it. The other duckling that we thought might have been getting sick seems to be doing okay maybe were just to worried because 2 were sick and 1 of the 2 died. But the second one is hanging in there. If anybody has anymore advice or anything please i don't know what more we can do.

Hopefully the little one is doing much better now. Drinking and eating a little are good signs. Other than support that’s about all you can do, other than vet care. hopefully the liquid BComplex will be enough.

I'm so sorry for the circumstances that brought you here.

I bought four ducklings earlier this year. I had one that started to have seizures. Thanks to the folks on here, she made a full recovery. It was Niacin deficiency. Once she got some niacin, she was back to normal and doing fine today.

There isn't more to add to the advice given other than to say make sure their drinking water is warm, not cold.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Update- Sadly the one little duckling did not make it and just passed away but at least its not in pain or suffering anymore and can be at peace. On the other hand the rest of our flock is doing great the one that we thought might have been getting sick is great after the vitamins we have been giving them. Thank you all so very much for all your advice and help. Our 7 other healthy ducklings thank you guys tremendously too!!!

So very sorry! great news on the one you were worried about. They actually need to be on some form of niacin till at least 10 weeks of age. You can substitute Nutritional yeast along with the liquid b complex or just stick to the liquid B complex but even after my ducklings are past the 10 week mark I still sprinkle Nutritional yeast over their food a couple times a week it's so good for them. I use it daily and I also give it to my dogs. They can't OD on it because what their body doesn't use they will pee out. Please keep us updated and of course we need pictures.

I would separate the sick ducklings from the rest and put them in quarantine. Remove any other ducklings as soon as they start displaying symptoms. I would give them some niacin and vitamin B supplements and mix some apple cider vinegar in their water and try to convince them to eat some greek yogurt to boost their immune systems. I wish you the best!
