The same pine shavings that I use in the coop. You can try some towels and see if you can help him find a comfortable sleeping position... If he acts like they are making him uncomfortable I’d let him lay how he wants. What happens when you shine a small flashlight in each eye? Do they each constrict in the same way? It would be good to know if it’s brain, neck or something else that’s injured. I think you might benefit from looking through tube feeding info. It sounds like he may be getting dehydrated if he’s eliminating watery stuff and not drinking.
both eyes constrict the same when i shine a flashlight in his eyes. does that mean it could be more a bodily injury rather than a brain one??
as for the drinking, i’m giving him water and he is drinking. i gave him around 12 ml of water the last time and he gets some water when i feed him ( i mix water in the crumbles to make a sort of mash/paste to make it easier for him to eat ).

Well, I think that makes it less likely that he has a concussion. It might be helpful to figure out whether he’s painful somewhere, and that’s why he wants to lie on his side. Figuring this out would help by telling you if you need a splint and how to beat position him for healing. You could try running your fingers over each area of his body. Start with a foot, then a lower leg, then upper leg, etc. See if there is an obvious swelling or displaced bone, or if he winces or acts painful when you touch that spot. Do this with his whole body, including his neck. You probably mentioned this before, but can you take him to a vet?

just a morning update before i forget: he was acting pretty lively when I went to check on him a little bit ago. his neck is still scrunched, but he’s try to move his legs and go places but can’t because of the sling ( sorry, buddy ). foghorn is trying to move his head more, though, when he hears me coming.

im waiting for my next class, but i messaged my mom to ask how foghorn was ( she’s the only one home right now to take care of him ) and she said he started eating on his own. he ate the food off the spoon and then started eating out of the cup when she held it near him. he drank 6ml of water but that’s all he wanted. still, the food is a big step forward because just yesterday evening i had to put the food in his mouth.

He's a little fighter! That's amazing.
