I'll start. I won't be raising Ameraucanas any longer. Im selling Scout with Silver and keeping sweet Charlotte. She'll just join the layers instead of the breeders.
Heck, if something happened to Suede (bite my tongue, I know!), I may not even get another Blue Orp boy and just have a very large (to me) laying flock with Hawkeye and his son Gabriel. I could sell Barred Rock eggs or crossbreed eggs but I may not try to maintain three breeding coops again.
So, what have YOU decided NOT to do this year?

I will NOT get more ducks I will NOT get more ducks
I WILL NOT GET MORE DUCKS.....

What I am not doing this year: no longer raise OEG bantams
no longer raise belgium quail
no longer raise Mallard ducks
What I AM going to do this year: cut down on my number of call ducks
maybe get rid of my wood ducks and mandarins
(depending on how they do this spring)
build another coop and run
start incubating eggs again
begin concentrating on breeding blue and black orps.
(in both bantam and standard)
BUY MORE CHICKENS..!

That's a good question, Cyn.

I am not going to raise 26 straight run chicks at one time, like last year! Any hatching I do will be in a batch of one dozen or even less.

I am not going to try to keep a roo! I've annoyed the neighbor two years in a row, and I think I will spare myself the grief this year, LOL! Besides, I love my all girl flock!

I am not going to exceed 15 adult chickens in my flock. I want to raise some babies, but I will sell/give away the extras to keep the number at 15 or under.

I am not going to try to break any broodies I have. I will let them have a couple of eggs and try to keep 'em happy.

I don't have too many!

(We could also call this thread: "What I have learned over the past year, LOL).

I am going to try very hard to not increase my flock. If I want one chicken of a certain breed, I will not incubate 10 eggs to get one. That's where the trouble starts.

I am not:

1)adding more than 8 more hens and 1 roo.
2)going to break my sweet little broody this year, I'm going to put some guinea eggs under her.
3)going to get a turkey, but I'm real weak on this one, even as I type it out.

~ I am not going to have more than 20 chooks in my layer flock.

~ I am not going to by any straight run chicks too high a chance of roos

~ I am not going to keep my bator running for more than 2 months straight

~ I am not going to build another coop

I will NOT get more chickens. I will NOT try to talk DH into expanding the coop/hen house again. I will NOT desire ducks. I will NOT fix the fences, therefore, I will NOT get donkeys, goats OR a horse.

They say if you repeat it often enough, you'll come to beleive it, right?
