It all, in my opinion, goes back to the fact that it is hard to determine who is actually educated and/or experienced with poultry and who is simply a chatty 12 year old (again, no offense to the knowledgeable youth). It does seem to me though that some of the people that post just "for the sake of posting" tend to interject themselves into topics in which they have no business giving advice. That is just my opinion. If you are a newbie or inexperienced with poultry, how do you filter out the bad advice? It's tough. It's also hard if you do have more experience with something to convey that without people getting attitude and thinking you are being rude/arrogant. It is frustrating on both sides.

I didn't read through all of the ideas, but what about one for "home remedies, household tips, things of this nature." I don't think that I have ever seen one of those, and I love old time remedies, tips and stuff.

Have you thought about making a breed selector? Sorta like MPC has. Where someone can answer a few questions and it give them the different breeds that fit their answers. I was just on the phone with my mother who has been looking into getting some chickens and was asking me tons of questions. I think it would be great if BYC had a breed selector quiz. And maybe when the answers pop up they can be linked to the breed page. That way instead of going down the long list looking at the different breeds. People can answer a few questions and then get different breeds that fit what they are looking for. I think this would help alot of people out.

For example:
A few good questions would be:

1. Do you need a breed that does well in heat or winter? answers could be: winter, heat, or doesnt matter
2. Do you want a breed that lays a good amount of eggs? answers could be: doesnt matter, yes, no
3. What color eggs would you like? have maybe a little checklist to click on
