I think we need a special 'room' where we can ask questions about all things related to shipping of birds or eggs. I have a question about shipping birds right now and have NO IDEA where to post it! A special place for shipping-related questions would be very helpful

Shelley, Not sure exactly what your question is, but if it's related to USPS regs, there's a sticky at the top of the auction forums that might.

No, I know I can do it, I'm just not sure I should. I need to send some buttons to CA and the next 3 days are the warmest in the 10-day forecast for my area. I know USPS will accept birds on Thursdays, I'm just not sure if I should send them that late in the week

and I have no idea where to post and ask this.

You are correct, though - a forum dedicated to all things shipping would be nice.

In the interim, you might trying posting on the California State thread - ask how long it takes peeps to get their birds from where you are. Maybe ask your buyer if they have had any problems receiving birds on Saturday. Although there's always a chance they could get there on Friday - depending on where you both are and the flights. With all the holiday mail, I just don't know.

You might also try asking in the interim on the Flock Management forum.

Ever since Eggbid randomly closed down on us last year, people have been looking for a place to sell and purchase hatching eggs and chicks. That being said, I think if allow regular members to post more auctions, it will really attract more people to BYC.

Thanks for the feedback about BSA listings. Please keep in mind that a GFM is only $20 a year and gives you access to about 240 listings during that time. That's only about $0.08 per listing with no other fees. So, with 5 free listings for regular members or 20 inexpensive listings per month for GFMs, no other auction sites (ebay, old eggbid, etc.) have as much exposure for such a small price.

Might I suggest a non-partisan compromise? While I think that 60 free listings (5 x 12) is very generous and should be ample for most (non-GFM) members, I also see the need to allow more than 5 listings per month. Not too many are selling eggs or birds in the winter months - maybe they can "roll-over" their unused auction allotments. Then they will have more available to use in the Spring/Summer/Fall months. Or just allow them 60/year, to use whenever time best suits their needs.

I don't know how the BYC system keeps track of the 5/month usage, so I'm not sure if a "roll-over" system would be feasible, but it might be worth a look.

(Please disregard if roll-overs are already allowed!!)

there should be a "BY STATE and CITY" Predator warning section on this site, where BYC'ers can post recent sightings of hawks, coons, coyotes ect.......... in there area to warn other BYC'ers so they can be on the lookout and protect there flock
for example: COYOTE SIGHTING IN HESPERIA,CA NEAR so and so STREET
