2013 United Peafowl Association Convention

I love belonging to groups such as the UPA. The forum might not move much but still as a group, a club, it should be a united effort. I wanted to jump in and help with ideas but boy, that went south in a hurry. I commented about the website that is new and how it could be improved because it wasn't doing well on my computer and got blasted for that so I figure I will just shut up and find other avenues.
And you are right, FB has a great pea page that I read almost every day and learn a ton and we even have one for our state but it doesn't get as much attention. And I love talking to everyone on here, too.

Like Zaz says, sometimes it clicks and sometimes not.

The UPA has a membership of around 300 maybe a little less. I had been on the BOD of the UPA for some 12 plus yrs. and have seen a lot of people come and go. Some of the members are always at the convention most never come as most just want the magazine and it is getting down some in size and info. The PT depends on input from anyone who wants to do an article, like how you got started with peafowl or how your guard dogs worked out .. lots of stuff. Send it to the president of the UPA. and right now I don't know who that is yet.. Over the years I have begged and ask for input and never go a lot. The UPA never had any one run for the open BOD positions this year , If a person is interested in helping direct the way it goes run for office and have a say , I am sure the help would be appreciated..The Peafowl Today PT cost more to print than the dues that members pay. so the rest is made up in ads and auction revenue. the kitty is getting smaller. The convention is held at a place that says " I will host it " ( South is good ) The UPA helps some with expenses to host one and it is a good amount. I can go for pages about this topic, but will not . If anyone has questions email me and I will try to answer them. connerhills

I would love a convention in the South. Since I joined the UPA about 4 or so years ago I haven't been able to go to the convention because of distance. Also the convention always starts on a Thursday which is very hard for me with college. I really can't miss school these days because something is always going on with that. I will still find a way to go to one though.

I really like being involved in the UPA. I have written 3 articles for the magazine which is awesome because I enjoy writing so it is fun to say I have had articles published in a magazine. I should write something more for people just getting into peafowl though because that is true that sometimes it seems like the articles are not geared to people just starting out with peafowl. I tried helping with the UPA website too. The webmaster is mostly paralyzed so he uses his head to move the mouse or something. That is why the site is taking a while to be finalized. I know it still has issues but the monitor he uses is large so what looks good on his screen is too large on ours. I haven't gotten an email back from him I think. We had some issues because I use a different website program and we can't exactly transfer files or I don't know how to. Building a website for a group is hard because everyone has a way they want it so it is hard to find a happy medium sometimes. Even though I couldn't go to the convention I still could send in an auction item so that was cool being involved in that way. :)

I am also really interested in green peafowl and I would like to see more focus on them with the UPA but that would of course take my efforts and others interested in them.

I really need to go to bed now...
