2014 Emu Egg Watch Thread

  1. Since the emu laying season in the US is generally considered to be November - March (our first egg was on December 2nd last season), we will begin our annual egg production tracking.     First egg was found this morning (Coastal Virginia). Eleven days earlier than last year's fist egg.

    UK Here....Jasmine laid her 2nd egg this morning, 735 gr. & 745 gr. 1st was 26. Nov. They never started till 4. Dec. in past,but laid till late march.

    Hi all. We rescued 6 Emu in October. First time Emu owners. We don't know if we have males or females. I've heard "drumming" from one. We're hoping for at least one female. We would love to have eggs. I'll sit back and be jealous of yours. Happy egg laying season. We'll keep you posted if we receive any eggs!!!
  6. good luck! Sometimes males refuse to breed immediately after being relocated, sometimes for a whole year...
