Sooooo I forgot to check the eggs yesterday, yeah DOH me....

but I candled and marked air cells quick this morning,
they are starting drawing down and pop bodies up inside the backs, oopsies... MY BAD again....
ignore thermo/hygros I unscrew my lights to candle and leave my lid open

I WILL NOTE, for the first time incubating fridge eggs, they didnt loose weight as fast as the others so not sure how they will hatch out.
Makes food for thought, Holding onto good PH from cold storage?, change of shell Pores? membrane structure?
air cells looked bigger than the others at start, they were older. Lack of OXY in fridge?
idunno.gif
lets see how they hatch

so I think its 24 lockdown and 26 went in.... one clear and one early death at a candle (Our own Eggs)

Sooooo these are the eggs my hubs has in the bator because we need ONE CCL rooster
lau.gif
yes I said ONE CCL ROOSTER,
note there are different color eggs in there? also note the XXL eggs in the center!!!!

Well here is the story, he candles CCL eggs the biggest blue eggs (note color stinks in this image but eggs are really pretty lol)
anyways, he candles and he says he sees this stuff floating in the eggs other than the yolk and thinks they are bad for some reason,
and he is afraid they wont hatch so he sets a bunch more just in case his gutt is right, then he asks me if he can set some of the Crested Barred Rock eggs, he has two in his hand and two of the XXL eggs in his hand, NOTE HIS FIRST TIME EVER HATCHING EGGS, I said whatever just hatch what you want I aint taking care of chicks, you are OUTSIDE NOT INSIDE, so he says, well in that case I need more Crested Barred Rock eggs, I told him I just put them in the fridge because we eat all of those eggs, he asks me if I think they will hatch and I said IDK never did it, try it if he wants, praying they wont. He candles last night think it was like day 10 or 13 idk he dont know when he set them lol, they look like day 12 and he tells me they all are growing!!!!!!! SAY WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALL ARE GROWING!!!! OH NO THEY AINT!!! NO NO NO so I candle and gosh dang it, even the old boogers and cold boogers are big old embryos!!!

idunno.gif
So anyone local needs CCL and Crested Barred Rocks give me a buzz
lau.gif
in a few, I just want a ROO
I JUST WANT A ROO OR TWO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I JUST WANT A ROO OR TWO I JUST WANT A ROO OR TWO

On day 16 did my day 14 candle last night because of all my Turner issues I was having I just forgot. Of the 33 eggs I set 24 are thriving. Of those 15 are from my own girls 5 are welsummer I got from a local farmer and 4 are mystery eggs from the same farmer.

your on day 16????? your air cells look too small for day 16 can you draw a line on the air cell and snap a full egg pic, what is the majority of the eggs look like?

Humidity is NOT A SET NUMBER, you need it YES!
However, you use it as a tool to "adjust" egg weight loss during incubation. We candle on days 7,10,14,18 To WATCH WEIGHT LOSS IN EVERY EGG! An EGG MUST lose approximately 13-14% of its weight during the incubation process. THIS IS YOUR GOAL!! You can monitor this by marking Air cells and also by weighing. Please refer to CANDLING section of this Article for more Air Cell info.

Size of air cell on day 7, 14, and 18 of incubation

WHY to MEASURE WEIGHT LOSS IN EGGS,

MEASURING PROCEDURES (HOW TO), HOW TO CALCULATE, and HOW to interpret RESULTS

I choose the easier method, keeping a close eye on air cell growth during incubation. You begin by ONLY adding a small amount of water and keep Humidity between 20%-30% and adjusting as you weigh or candle depending on moisture loss. IN SOME AREAS OF THE COUNTRY YOU MAY NOT NEED TO ADD ANY WATER! USE IT AS A TOOL FOR THE CORRECT WEIGHT LOSS IN THE EGG! So if your air cells look too large at each candle period you must add some humidity, too small air cell lower it, and if your weighing you adjust as needed. UNTIL DAY 18 LOCKDOWN,
then stop turning and raise humidity to 65-70%

TIMELINE of a silky HATCHING!
MONDAY 5 PM noticed external pip

TUESDAY DAY 20 9AM STILL RESTING,
hole slightly larger but chick is NOT zipping!

2 PM TUES. CHICK IS ALREADY OUT!
missed the last quick zipping!
Silky on the left, two CCL hatched at the same time!

ITS IMORTANT TO NOTE:
THIS CHICK TOOK WELL OVER 24 hours to hatch! and absolutely normal!

Day 2: Some air cell growth, It is about the size of a nickle around the top of the egg, and the yolk is touching it. Is that normal? The curve on the yolk in the first pic is the air cell.

How does this guy look?

The air cell size in your egg on day 2 is an indication that you have a fresh egg. Do not worry about air cell size until the days on the chart:

See how small the air cell is on day one?
