Sorry! Hit reply before I could post their photo!
WELCOME to the thread and BYC! what are you hatching? sounds like its under control!!! pictures when they hatch please!!!Hatch day! 3 pips out of 40 eggs so far. I JUST heard chirping finally. It seriously feels like christmas. This is our second hatching attempt. First one did not go well at all (no survivors). When we candled them at day 18 before lockdown we had 36 wiggling chicks. I just really hope we get some fuzzballs for my kids to see when they get home from school. Fingers crossed!!! Im like a nervous new mommy!
we got it in the bag!!Omg the gifs are killing me!![]()
ok always looks dif when candling! you have two days of loss yes, keep humidity down yet!
oh! so I could tell them easily from serama right? or no? ya ya ya????
OMG ha ha ha ha ha ha ha giggle giggle giggle.... she is nuts like me!!! I think should you take them all out there is more chance for dropping them! Take the lid off, candle each one and put each one back and put the lid back on it. it doesnt take long to look and be finished, just dont plan on taking images of each one, OK OK OK?Thanks. I'm a terrible worrywort and I want to do everything right. I think I will candle the eggs tomorrow and then let them be until day 7. I took the plug out like you recommended, it doesn't seem to have affected the temp or anything like I was afraid it would. I check about every hour.
When it comes time to candle the lot of them should I take them all out and put the lid on the incubator with them outside of it, or just take the lid of and keep them in without the lid while I candle?
just 34Great news! I have a lot coming up too, the first of the month. Didn't set quite that many, 34, 3 have been tossed so far.
GOINGGGGGGG!!!Just posted photos of my flock since I recently cleaned up the run and did some work in the coop. Link is in my signature, go take a look at the thread if you're interested. No roos though, we got rid of all ours.

That is a special Turken!Where did you even find chickens like that?
I got hatching eggs from BYC usee Kev before they re-arranged their scaleless turken flock. I am eternally grateful to them! I'd been hunting for scaleless chooks for some time. They are very fascinating and I am eager to learn about them!
what the heck woman, you are antsy, now you better just start practicing sitting on your hands now!!! no meddling when its lockdown ya here me!!!!![]()

There is a BYC Member on one of the Heritage threads that posted yesterday that he keeps his cabinet incubator at 50% humidity all the time, incubating and hatching.@Sally Sunshine I have never been able to get humidity below 55 I live in Mississippi so I believe our high humidity has a lot to do with that. This is only my 3rd hatch but my first hatch was 15 out of 21 eggs, 2nd 16 out of 18 eggs and this is my biggest set starting with 33 even tho I'm down to 24 eggs. I will candle again Sunday and start lock down. This will be the only time I add water to my bator but it really only takes a little to get the humidity up. I have to say I have enjoyed the hatching I usually only buy chicks or pullets. This will be my last hatch until spring tho I'm already worried about going into winter with such little ones.
