My husband is lucky I didn't discover this thread in time to join the party. Next time I find myself suffering from a bout of bad judgement I will definitely look for a hatch-a-long.

The question is, will it be chicken, quail, or duck?

@Sally Sunshine I have never been able to get humidity below 55 I live in Mississippi so I believe our high humidity has a lot to do with that. This is only my 3rd hatch but my first hatch was 15 out of 21 eggs, 2nd 16 out of 18 eggs and this is my biggest set starting with 33 even tho I'm down to 24 eggs. I will candle again Sunday and start lock down. This will be the only time I add water to my bator but it really only takes a little to get the humidity up. I have to say I have enjoyed the hatching I usually only buy chicks or pullets. This will be my last hatch until spring tho I'm already worried about going into winter with such little ones.

:frow i live in South LA and i just wanted to chime in with the same fact, my local humidity never falls below 50%, inside the bator i had hoped that the fans would dry it out? Hardly. Still had 18/21 hatch from my last (first) set.

@Sally Sunshine I am hatching a mix from our flock- but 1/3 of them are from RIR hens and my RIR roo. The other hens were a polish, columbian wyandotte, and a random mixed breed lol. We dont care about the breeds as much- we love the hens and roo we have right now and would just be thrilled to get a few hatchlings. So far there are 5 pips and i hear cracking/pecking noises and chirps so Im encouraged. I picked the kids up from school and we are watching the bator like its TV lol. I will keep you all posted!

3 out of 4 lavender ameracaunas
3 out of 3 lavender orpingtons

I'm holding on to hope that the 4th lav amer egg will hatch. These were shipped eggs.

I'm terrible I know!

I blame it on 3 of my 4 kids being in school and my youngest will be 3 soon. My babies are growing up too fast! WAAA!!!!

I will only take pics of ones I have questions on, I plan on having my hubby help me so it can go smoothly. (He'll hold the phone for pictures)

GREEN IS MY FAVORITE COLOR, I DO LOVE APPLE PIE, FISH IS SO SO, and I have closet full of heels that I buy and never wear!

WHO ARE YOU? A SPY?

O.O

I hear you, it gets like that sometimes here as well! Thank goodness for the dehumidifier, sometimes that doesnt take it down a bit either. you have to work with what you have, seasons change, some summers are dry as heck and like our summer, part was dry and then it was humid as heck! it was all over the place! drove me insane!

Were do you winter the littles tiffani? I keep ours in our garage until about two months and then they go out into a small grow out pen with our serama, I love having the serama because I can always add them out of the grow out pens when they wont fit through the wire fencing with serama. and then I send them out to where they belong.
