Well, I am officially unplugged. Last one was a dud too. Well, this was a disappointing round, but tomorrow I will disinfect and wait excitedly for the mail to come next week. Staying positive!

Hugs!!! Next hatch will be better:) Ask anyone on here, I was having issues off the wall with several. IF it could go wrong it did but all in all things have leveled out and they do get better :)

thank you! im going to try the lower humidity this bout around. i was at 50% last time and had poor results. at lock down do you continue at 35%?

No, I just learned the hard way from some pros on here that bator time is the most important to prevent sticky/shrink wrap. I THOUGHT if I turned up the humidity (we had someone come over to watch my critters and when we returned my temps in the bator were in the 80s, I dont know for how long) that they wouldnt stick but it was the bator period that caused it. The lockdown for me 65-75% and everyone is different. Just finished calibrating again so ready for my lockdown again today. PLEASE ask some of the ones who have more experience.

For instance, the sponge in the bowl did not work for me in the bator. For my bator on lockdown I lay paper towels from the bottom up a bit to the sides. The water can wick up and it helps. With the sponge the humidity in mine dropped way too fast, especially if I ever decided to sleep at night. I dont soak them, I have a bottle with a tube I can add a few drops through the vent holes till it's where it's needing to be. Last time I raised it too much due to seeing the membranes drying out and it doesn't help. It can be too much for the babies to breathe

I am so excited to get home and check my incubator. I had pips yesterday so I should have a chick or two! They'll be going under my broody who lost all her eggs thanks to a round of nest switching. I'm sure she'll be happy to have them.

I can't wait to have another broody hen! The only one I've had in a few years ate her babies!!! I named her Lizzy for Lizzy Borden and she gets no more eggs!

Araucanas...

Araucanas, OE's and an older Silkie singleton...

And of course there's always one...

Awwwww. EVERYONES babies are sooooooooooooooooooooo cute!!! I'm really crazy about Silkies! Both little Buff hens are laying now and I'll have some of these cuties soon!!

I had 2 chicks hatch this morning! Both Mille Fleur Duccles! 2 more pips left in the bator. And 2 more eggs left to pip! Happy Halloween!

AAHHH!!!
Soooo sweet!
You're lucky...I noticed a little "off" smell when I came home & looked all over my bedroom...it was coming from the tiny incubator on my night stand...my egg smelled funky from the air hole...I lit it up & there was still no movement...I put it in a zippy bag & cracked it open & it was a slimy blob with some green...so, no Halloween chick for me, I guess there's always next year...

This is my favorite month & so far, this month bites

Aw, what a bummer. So disappointing for you & your chick. Do you think you'll buy a chick somewhere to keep your one company?

Happy Halloween everyone! Scovy, I'm so sorry. My hatch was awful but I did get two out of 24. Are you trying again for Thanksgiving?

I'm glad you got two! :)
I think I might try for Turkey Day, yeah. :)
No reason to quit I suppose, as long as there may still be eggs at least.

I don't know. I think if anything I may try cooking some more...I wonder if a Brinsea mini would really be much better. Prizepete got down to just one egg also in a Brinsea. Maybe I just need to try again. It takes a bit to learn this hatching thing with Serama, right? Or am I just not catching on fast?
