Looks like you get a ninja hug...you won't see it coming until it gets yaummmm yea
but but whats wit that mask?![]()
I agree! I adore RIRs! I grew up with a flock of 40 & they were my first eggs I hatched on my own @ 8 years old. They were the sweetest girls! They loved hugs & cuddles & just begged for attention.I love the sexlinks for the eggs! Can't go wrong there. I prefer the Reds. An egg a day. Leghorns too. RIR's do well. I've heard a lot of people say, leghorns and RIR's are mean. Oh pooo..they are not! I have had the sweetest birds. Here is a photo of them begging for treats at the back door. They will click their nails against the metal part on the bottom to get my attention.
If you're looking for a meat bird after a long run of eggs, eggs, and eggs, then the leghorn wouldn't be a good choice. Those sex links do get pretty meaty though, and do the RIR's.![]()
I just had SO much better luck with my second hatch by dry hatching, but I'm very new...& I like theseI stopped using the channels during my first hatch. It was too hard to take humidity away when it got too high. I use a sponge in a glass dish below one of the vents and use a straw and syringe to add water until lockdown.I'd vote for dry, but I'm not sure which way is best.
Ok. What fabric for the apron? Two or more fabrics per apron.

OMG easter basket!!!! ok this is where many people will tell you different stories!!
I only do 12 hours, IF air cells are intact and in good shape, I treat normal air cells as normal eggs too!
look at those darks!
Ok, thank you! They were shipped Saturday and arrived today (Monday) so hoping the trip wasn't too rough! Now to really test the new bator! I ended up with 3 Black Copper Marans, 1 Wheaten Maran, 3 Barnevelders, 3 BLR Wyandottes, 3 Cream Legbars, 3 BBS Ameraucana, 1 lavender Ameraucana and 1 Isbar. Quite the assortment, should be fun to see which ones hatch!

I'm up to 3 now, but one needed assistance so I'm not sure about how healthy it is. It's loud,so that is a good sign. What a little cutie! Is it a singleton?
My favorite is the black with yellow flowered pattern, I like the maroon as well and of course the pattern with the bowl of eggs!
