You can do the heating pad - I'm on mobile so I can't link, but there is a great thread where Beekissed used just a heating pad to hatch eggs. If you find it and read it it should help you out.

Thanks, I'll look. I already have it back up to 86, with just a plant heating pad. Just hope it works long enough for me to get a new incubator set up. I candled one, and I could see it moving, hate to lose her.

Have quite a few pips on my quail eggs, nothing out as of now. I'm sure by time I get up in the morning I will have a pile running around.

ETA; I thought my chicken eggs hatch on the 25th. It's actually the 22nd.

So I should go on the next hatch right now is 30 cartons of eggs approximately 9 a day. So if I would of put them in now it would start with 30 and work my way down depending on incubators I have running at the time and how many eggs it will hold set 1-10 or oldest. Partner made spiff money today on his deals and got to more glass. It will fit on little blue cooler and the other styrofoam cooler. He said he might work on it after he lets the dogs out. My kid is a sleep. He somehow keeps falling asleep at 3pm and is up all night. I don't think he has felt well.we will correct sleep on dads to week vacation on 10-22-2015 just in time for my surgrey. I thing it will be a better outcome for Christmas . It take 6-8 week recovery time. But dr said I can start to move around again at the two week mark.

Candle Day 6 for Brabanters. 4/9 have veins. The rest seem clear. :(
Candle Day 10 for the rest. 2 Barnevelders and 3 BCM stay because I can't tell through their shells. 3 CL and 2 LAm stay but various stages of "meh".
Air cells are ok. The saddled ones look too big but I'm not sure I can change that.
Started with 24. Down to 19 after early problems. Only 9 or 10 look really promising. I'm hoping Day 14 turns out better. I need some healthy chicks to hatch. I want 10+
The thermostat works.

I read through the comments after that video...He had to resign after 23 years because the video became so popular...he got in trouble.
I ship a lot of eggs, and I have to say, I'm surprised ANY of those little buggers survive. It's just amazing that they do.

I know that I have personally been so stubborn about getting a certain breed or bloodline shipped to me, that I will sometimes end up getting several shipments until I can at least have a few hatch. I think some routes are harder to get viable eggs from. I mean, if a box goes through more than one main postal hub on it's journey or through a particularly rough postal hub....also have had worse luck with egg shipments that are nearby and are trucked the whole way rather than flown. It takes the same amount of time for a box to get from Southern CA to central CA as it does to get from San Diego to New York..... Hmmmm.

Sorry, I'm on a rant partly because a bit raw from an eBay customer trying to threaten me into sending him free eggs because the batch I sent didn't hatch. Same eggs from same birds that are in my incubator now. All fertile and growing. Have no idea if his started and quit, failed to start, how he incubates.... Thought about sending him this video, but don't think he'd care...
Oh well.
That's a shame! It's just the way of shipped eggs. There's so many variables involved after they leave your hands (& even when they're in his) that there shouldn't be any blame on you if nothing hatches. I understand he may be upset but he has to really think about it. I've learned some people just want to blame someone for something.

You should be good if you can get them into another bator by tonight..or early morning. Be glad they are 7 days, they will be fine with the 86 for a while. :)
