I don't know for sure but I think this is survivable. I think your hatch might be delayed a day or so but if you get them back up to temp it should be ok until you replace the batorWent down to 73
Thanks, I'll look. I already have it back up to 86, with just a plant heating pad. Just hope it works long enough for me to get a new incubator set up. I candled one, and I could see it moving, hate to lose her.You can do the heating pad - I'm on mobile so I can't link, but there is a great thread where Beekissed used just a heating pad to hatch eggs. If you find it and read it it should help you out.
That's a shame! It's just the way of shipped eggs. There's so many variables involved after they leave your hands (& even when they're in his) that there shouldn't be any blame on you if nothing hatches. I understand he may be upset but he has to really think about it. I've learned some people just want to blame someone for something.I read through the comments after that video...He had to resign after 23 years because the video became so popular...he got in trouble.
I ship a lot of eggs, and I have to say, I'm surprised ANY of those little buggers survive. It's just amazing that they do.
I know that I have personally been so stubborn about getting a certain breed or bloodline shipped to me, that I will sometimes end up getting several shipments until I can at least have a few hatch. I think some routes are harder to get viable eggs from. I mean, if a box goes through more than one main postal hub on it's journey or through a particularly rough postal hub....also have had worse luck with egg shipments that are nearby and are trucked the whole way rather than flown. It takes the same amount of time for a box to get from Southern CA to central CA as it does to get from San Diego to New York..... Hmmmm.
Sorry, I'm on a rant partly because a bit raw from an eBay customer trying to threaten me into sending him free eggs because the batch I sent didn't hatch. Same eggs from same birds that are in my incubator now. All fertile and growing. Have no idea if his started and quit, failed to start, how he incubates.... Thought about sending him this video, but don't think he'd care...
Oh well.
