2015 Peafowl Hatching Support Group - Eggs and Chicks!

Pics
The peachick I assisted hatch on Tuesday is doing great. It was kinda iffy as I thought it seemed a bit too weak and continued to have a ticking to its every breath but now 3 days old it is flapping about and drank for the first time last night on its own. I did tape it's legs as it had one that kept going out to one side so just in case I wanted to have them right as it was on its belly legs spread more than I liked.

Today I weighed and it's lost some of that baby weight. From 84g at hatch to 70g Day 3.

400

It's navel completely closed and healed just perfectly. Here's to hoping for a girl.

Oh and I'm guessing this is a IB. Would that appear accurate? These were shipped eggs with a variety of possibilities.

Looking good! The weight loss after hatch always makes me anxious, lol.

Update on four eggs at day 28

2 hatched
1 died yesterday before pipping externally
1 pipped externally on day 26, then made no progress. So yesterday I opened up the shell a little and could see lots of veins, including one across it's body (not sure how that's possible or what it means. Will take another peek at it very soon.

Next two are at day 26.

Here is how I track weights on peachicks:

The black line is Crookie, the green line is the small white one. Not tubing Crookie enough, so I will increase his feedings. Will also start tubing little white and see if I can get her to make some better gains.

Egg Number Weights as of today:
3 (IB) 67
14 (White, Pink) 56
16 (IB, Crook) 62
21 (White, Blue) 79

Well this week I put 14 eggs in the incubator. Some are from the beginning of May so I don't expect the older ones to develop but I am just trying them anyways. I hope I will have better luck than the last try.

I had a lady call me after finding my site. She was looking for pied peachicks. I thought it was funny because my for sale page said I don't have any peachicks and it also says I do not ship.

Anyways she kept talking about pieds and asked me how you get pieds, so then I found out she has just one peacock and he is dark pied so I told her to get a white peahen. Hopefully she will be able to breed for her own pieds.

Good luck Minx! Looking forward to seeing your chickies.

My dark pied over pied birds have been spitting out pied birds left and right here! Wasn't expecting that but I'm happy ^_^

Good luck! Last year I think i had one that was 19 or 21 days old hatch, so anything is possible.

Are pea eggs super sensitive to temp changes? I have my bator in a closet but every time the ac kicks in the temp drops to 98.8-99. It always comes back up and stabilizes, but will that little change hurt the babies? Also, which day should I candle on to see if they are developing?
