2017 Gosling Hatch a long!!

Pics
Hey all, can I join? I'm on day 18? Maybe 17 for my mixed goose eggs. It's my first hatch and I started with 10. I did not the dates, but my phone with the info is getting repaired, ugh!
10 eggs started, 5 infertile.
1 is full of ling but is beginning to smell so I think it must have died. Another doesn't smell, but I'm not positive what's going on in there. There is some mass that looks like ling, but this weird dark blob that is floating when I rotate the egg. I believe I have 3 still progressing eggs. What did people do before candling???
Top one is smelly egg, next is likely infertile or quitter, but I'd love a confirm. Last shows the floaty bit just above the x on the left.View attachment 1019320
Hi yes please do join! You're very welcome!:frow
I'd agree that the second picture looks like a quitter. Not sure about the others. Floating blobs are not usually a good sign tho! I tend to worry about any that don't look like the obviously healthy ones when I candle.
I'm day 14 today so will be checking mine too. So far 5 out of originally 7 ok!
You'll have to forgive me if I don't always reply straight away, I'm in the UK and there's a bit of a time zone issue ha ha!

Well I've candled and I've got 5 active little goslings in there still! Phew!
Air cells have grown nicely too thankfully.
According to my average weight loss chart they are still losing a bit too much so I've upped the humidity another 5% to 55%.
I don't really know what I'm doing tbh, I've just read so many articles and stuff I'm following those. I really hope I'm getting this right ha ha...!

Any eggs yet? I've still got my fingers crossed!!:fl ;)

No eggs yet. Supposedly they're going to be delivered today but sheesh. I didn't need to pay express shipping to have them show up the same time as normal priority.

I had nightmares of them showing up crushed or broken all night.

I'm trying to keep my fingers crossed that they will arrive in one piece.

This may be why I never weigh my eggs. Seems like just one more thing to stress about. Lol
Congrats on your babies growing well!!

I agree TK10, that one definitely looks like a quitter. They should be pretty much blacked out by now and showing not much but the air cell all the way around.

I'd toss stinkers before they explode (that's the absolute worst smell in the world) but there's also a bit of normal stink involved with hatching eggs too, so sometimes it's hard to tell what's normal or not *gag*

My concern is that it's only a little stinky, what if that's the norm? Lol
But the other 3 good eggs don't smell, so I guess that's my big clue. I'll toss this today. I'm just so paranoid that I'd be throwing away a lil fluffy in the making.

Yes I know what you mean! Its horrible to think you might be tossing a good egg! I go with my gut instinct really. I think you know what your gut instinct is from the sounds of things.
Also youd kick yourself if it poisoned the rest wouldnt you?
I always do a float test before chucking a hatching egg, it usually confirms things for me. You could check like that first? here's a link on how if you're not sure
