Im so so sorry TK10 that's awful.Devastating news for my ducklings. 7 died throughout the night! I'm just sick about it. I've brooded before, but never a large amount. The heat is on and doing well, it's a 125 w red bulb most ducklings were spread out in the brooder. 3 appeared very wet so I'm thinking they got splashed and chilled. 2 were under the heat lamp and 2 were in the cooler side of the brooder. I thought I might lose 2 that seemed weak, but this is terrible. They were hatched 5-31 and made it to me 6-2 in the afternoon.
I made sure all were drinking well. I'm a bit heart sick.
I will. The brooder is at 95, though it is a cheap thermometer. But the ducklings aren't all huddled together not are they all spread out like too hot. I'm hoping I don't lose more, ugh. I've only brooded in 2 different groups of 6. I'm going to set up another water and continue to make sure they are drinking. Please contact the hatchery and let them know. It's an oval tank probably 3 ft by 1 1\2 and 2 feet high.Tk10, how much room did they have? I've had ducklings trample each other to death accidentally in the past.
So sorry! That's a big loss![]()
I'm still not sure I'm getting it right tbh!Nannette, this is my first time weighing eggs too. Lol
I thought I had been doing it wrong until now!

Maybe I should set up both end to be warm and split them up? There are still 15.
