Very true. Could be we both just had very bad luck on all our batches. Goose eggs are fragile, too.

Peafowl are also awful for shipping. I got twelve of those a couple weeks ago. Six started to develop and are still trucking along. That's actually really amazing for pea eggs.

Wow. I cannot believe you paid for a 3rd set from same seller. So risky, especially since fertility drops low towards the end of season. Best of luck!!

So here's the latest egg drama.

29 jubilee eggs, not one thing developed

I am so over it.
I am so frustrated.
I am freaking MAD.

At this point I'm $700 invested and have gotten literally nothing out of this.

I shouldn't have bought those stupid goose eggs today.

Really sorry Sounds like the Jubilees weren't fertile, to have so many and get none to develop at all.

I guess I'll have to find someone local with eggs, or buy chicks.

Not sure if Meyer Hatchery carries jubilee, but they have a surprisingly large variety. I had an excellent experience with Meyer Hatchery for my chicks. Ordered 10 females for me (polish, cochin, sultan, eggers, salmon favs) and 6 for my neighbor (orps, eggers, and RIRs). All 16 arrived healthy and only one turned out to be a boy.

As for shipped vs local eggs, I've personally shipped countless dozens of goose eggs and have had close to 75% hatch rate from my customers. On the super rare occasions that eggs arrived scrambled on the inside, I have replaced eggs for cost of shipping. If the breeder's set up is done right, then it shouldn't matter if eggs are shipped or not. FYI, detached air cells are usually detached when laid, not during shipping. Breeder should be candling eggs and setting them in carton for a few days to settle before shipping, or not sell those eggs.

I found some mottled orpingtons from a guy out in Michigan. I've got 8 coming via express mail tomorrow and then another 10-12 next week.

Should have just went this route to begin with.
