Time for formal introductions.
We went for a tree theme with all the names.
I’m honestly not sure how I got them to sit still long enough to take these.

Ohhh sweet babies!! Love the names too. These were all from MPC?

How are everyone’s little balls of fluff doing? Curious what everyone is using as a bedding/flooring in their coop/run?My coop feels like it’s taking forever to build, I’ve spent the last three days moving five yards of pea gravel into my run! My arms feel like spaghetti at this point. My girls decided to spend their day sunbathing.

Right now I'm using pine shavings in their coop. I'm starting to look around to see about something different so I too am curious as to what others do in their coop as well. I did look into DLM, but don't think that's for me since my coop is so small.

However I do think I'll do DLM in my run portion. I've got a good layer of pine bark chips going. As soon as all this rain quits (It's been raining off and on for about 2 weeks now) I plan on putting on another layer of pine bark and will add grass clippings when we start to mow in about a months time.

I might have to add a good layer of sand to my run. With all the snowmelt and rain lately it puddles quite a bit in low lying areas.
Thoughts?

Ive heard nothing but good things on sand it’s what I’m using inside my coop actually. I plan on using the DLM for both my coop and run. Where I live it gets muddy and gross quick in winter due to our snow and rainfall so i went with gravel as it does the best with excessive wetness.

Just put in my order for renewing my flock!!! Earliest delivery is 15 May!!! Thought it was interesting comparing hatchery prices... for the same order with 57 birds of same type Mcmurray quoted with shipping $130.56, Cackle quoted $101.15, and Meyer quoted $63.14.

What breeds are you getting? How exciting. I’m not surprised Meyer is the cheapest, they’re one of th biggest hatcheries in the country.
