2018 Newbie Chat!

Guys I have a mouse in my dryer. The little guy is pooping in there. Haven't saw him but there is poop. The vent keeps falling off, now I don't want to put it back on and trap him inside.

This is crazy, I could not believe I was seeing poop
Could you get your hands on a humane mouse trap so you could release him back into the wild? I think you might want to keep him though, you with your very big heart :hugs

Omg so cute!!! :ya

What a wonderful gift.
Are they sexed pullets?
My DH would never buy me birds.

Yes they are sexed pullets. I’m over the moon, he knew I was struggling to incubate and thought he’d help out. He loves the breed jersey giant and has been begging me to get some since we first got chickens. So who are they really for?

Not chicken or animal related but scary..

We had an active shooter less then a few miles from my work today. We could clearly hear the sirens going back and forth. They brought in swat and FBI along with local, county and state officers. The shooter ended up killing 5, injuring 5 officers and wounding several. There was a shoot out and the police killed him.

It was scary not knowing at the time what the motive was, how many shooters there were, or if any escaped.. The building was huge-29000 sq ft.

The first responders and all officers did a wonderful job in a short time getting people out and going in and finding him.

Just very scary the more I think about it. Way to close. I work in the back area, I came up front and locked the doors. Everyone was pretty much in one area with multiple exits in case. You just can not prepare for this stuff.

That’s awesome.
Right now I feel equal parts guilty and envious because my DH is with my birds way more than I am.
I try to take over their care on the weekends but sometimes it’s such a habit for him to do the chicken chores that I have to insist.
I’m not sure if Charlotte my JG is laying yet. I don’t think I’ve seen her in the nest boxes and DH can’t tell her apart from Sumi even though she has a leg band.
I’m so glad it’s staying light out longer.
Bring on daylight savings time!

Wow I couldn't imagine how scary that must be. I'm glad you're safe. That's definitely too close to home.:hugs

Update on my babies:
Here are the two ameraucana I hatched almost four weeks ago.

These are the new babies. They are petrified of my hands, so making them friendly may be a challenge.

Aww gorgeous babies! :love

I find that if I can brood them in such a way that I’m not reaching down on them it helps.
I’ll sit by the brooder with my coffee and talk to them in the morning.
And I’ll sit with them in the afternoon too.

Minnie took the day off from the two eggs today and Bootsie sat on them all day.
