Hi there I am a complete newbie! Got 4 chicks yesterday and everything is going well so far- we have one chick that has has the pasty poop that was sticking to the back feathers- her poop is now fine but it was sticking to her back yesterday- she started to pluck out her own feathers as if she was trying to get the poo off of her (probably bothering her) but the poop has come off once I used a warm water and qtip-she is still plucking at her vent (or as far as she can reach) but the poo is gone. She has a pretty bare spot now but no blood- not sure what to do any suggestions? Sorry for rambling

She should be just fine. She’ll feather out in that area in a week or two so just make sure none of her hatch mates pick at the area and you should be good. Great job getting rid of the pasty butt btw.

Ok thanks very much that makes me feel bettter, so far no other chicks have messed with the spot just her hoping they won’t notice

@Kkinney27 are her poops okay?

@PNW_Peepers I am giving her Belle, the lavender looking Easter egger since that was her favorite, also Anna another EE and one of the Welsummers. I don't really care which Welsummer she gets. They are complete opposites. Moana is pushy and outgoing and Lilo is shy and quiet.
So that will leave me two EEs, Kida and Nala, Welsummer and Elsa the SLW

Just finished my Coop/Run finally. My 12wo are trying it out tonight. My babies go in next week in a chicken hospital I built in it.

You’ll want to wait until they are at least 8 weeks old as it generally takes that long for them to be fully feathered. Very cute coop! I love the color of it! What different breeds did you get & How many birds do you plan on having in the coop?

I got one of each: Pearl White Leghorn, Ameraucana, Black Australorp, Cuckoo Maran, Red Star and Speckled Sussex.

It's going to be a diverse group!!!

Better take the center two feeders and put them elsewhere in the coop/run we have 2 about 2 feet apart. One hen can keep everyone away from both! I added feeders elsewhere and we have peace!

Order 15 more chicks from Meyer yesterday. 5 laying hens for us. One for a friend who lost one and is already maxed by the town as to how many he can have 6 for another friend to save shipping. The girl talked me into the last 3. CX’s just to save $20 on shipping. It will be a good comparison as we have rangers coming the week before.

I guess I’m jumping in with both feet when it comes to chickens! We had none last year this time. 14 out in the coop, 4 in the brooder now and how many on the way?!?
