Just out of curiosity, what would be the difference between getting them from the show and getting them from a hatchery, and are there benefits from getting them from the show as opposed to getting them from a hatchery?
I am assuming that the standard they are bred to is more stringent when buying from show lines versus a hatchery.

Totally amazed at how my duck hens have gone from being the ones bullying the chickens to being the ones bullied by the chickens. Today I witnessed Roo shove Midnight out of her way then Roo chased Aurora around the garden several times until Pedro came along and chased Roo - maybe to remind Roo not to get too confident - it is very hard to resist intervention and I have to constantly remind myself of the risks and set backs it will cause them if I don't leave them to work it out for themselves and thankfully there is no blood drawn, no actual fighting and is mostly only chasing with the occasional peck from a chicken. Pedro seems to have calmed a lot in regards to Jellybean although she still gives chase at treat times, but hopefully it won't be long until she calms on that aspect too. Lilah and the drakes are the only ones who never get chased nor challanged and both drakes recognise that Lilah is head of all and tend to stay out of her way.

DH & I completed our third and final coop. Manchineel and Lazarus seem to be fond of it, as am I.

I’ve been weeding around it the last week, and am starting to work on landscaping it.

Pea gravel and sand cover the run. The mixture should dry out quicker than dirt.
