2019 Emu Hatch-A-Long

Egg number 2 has rotten stuff on the outside of it. Do you think it came from the basket that I put the eggs in when I weigh them because I weighed egg number four in the basket before I threw it out. I had to wipe a little bit of rotten stuff out of the basket.

Day 50 nothing yet. I am still smelling something with that other stinky egg out. I cant tell who it is yet. I suspect the youngest emu eggs on about day 20 (I forget). My day 45 eggs are going crazy today 3/3. Still hearing day 50 Egg A sing to me. No movement from B and C. Hope I wake up to a baby we are more than ready for him. When do yall call it quits on the still eggs that don't smell? I wish I knew what was going on with B and C egg.

I would just keep an eye on it and smelling it with your nose lol. I honestly think that is the most accurate test YET other than a live hatch. The bloom should protect the baby from germs I would hope.

I pulled a sloshing egg from my batch due the end of April. Gonna weigh tonight and check how the other two are doing. I saw two because the seller sent me two tiny, bullet shaped eggs (I paid for them, they weren't extras) and I'm pretty sure they're just no good based on tiny size and shape. I still have them in there though, just in case.

How do you feel about paying for those weird tiny eggs? I googled trying to see how much they cost and found mention of 'nice big' eggs for hatching. That makes me think small/tiny ones - not so good. :-(
@matt swenson - Seems like blown out emu eggs sell for pretty good money? Could there be a market for feathers?:D
