2019 Emu Hatch-A-Long

@Pyxis Sorry to hear about the eggs sitting out in the cold Hope that doesn't negatively effect the hatch. I did a bit of research earlier and people have managed to hatch refrigerated chicken eggs, so I would assume the same is possible for other types. They had to be warmed to room temperature before they started incubating them.

I think it'll be okay The packaging probably insulated them very well. They were cold, but I wouldn't say they were freezing, so fingers crossed it didn't affect them.

Risky shipping eggs to cold places...like VERMONT.... in winter

Ya I’m in NJ... unfortunately emus lay eggs in the coldest months only, but I actually found a local emu breeder =)

Thinking probably, yes^^^
....doesn't translate well to those kept in captivity when they are a tropical bird?

Weight loss for yesterday:

Doing okay for the smaller two eggs, which I taped, but the humidity was too high for the bigger eggs. So, humidity will be decreased again, and weight loss checked tomorrow. If necessary I'll tape the smaller eggs a little more.

The end of the first week is here, and weekly weigh in is done. All the big eggs lost too little, and the small eggs too much, but I already knew that was going to happen. Good news is I think I finally got the humidity nailed down for the big eggs. The small eggs I've added more tape to, to keep them from losing too much, hopefully.
