2019 Spring Ducklings are here!

I am feeling very smug with my crawfish platter under my waterer and my dry brooder. I felt very inferior to all your handy inventions before. But I only have seven in my brooder.

Everything worked great while i had just five ducklings in there, but now with fifteen i am out-brained!

I shudder to think of 15. The most I ever had was 10 and they defeated me in every way. It's only day 2 and the goslings are trying to escape. They grew enough to peer over the edge. I figure 2-3 days before I have to find another solution.

Oh the joys of duckling messes!

Can you show a better pic of the water blocker? I usually just put several rocks in the trough, spaced out so they can still drink between them, but it’s harder for them to scoop and spit it out.
Also a wash cloth or rag on their way out of the water area will help keep them from tracking so much wetness out of the area. Have to swap it often, and it gets pretty nasty, but was easier than changing out the whole brooder so often.

I have already selected the cardboard box that i will cut into stripes and tape to the brooder-pool…

My DH recycles everything immediately. Today was recycling day. I have nothing. Need to go to the Dollar Tree and see what I can find. Wish you were here
