2019 Spring Ducklings are here!

I thought crows would eat the ducks! Guess not .

They do attack ducklings!

I see crows chase off hawks up high but never down close to the house.

You haven't met the West Virginia Crow Squadron! When they are in the air, no hawk stands a chance. And if they are not in the air they are sitting in the trees around my house and still no hawk stands a chance. Life savers!

A murder. Today they were murder preventers. Just mucked out the ducklings. How I hate the smell of Flockraiser. I can't wait for them to get old enough to switch to Mazuri.

I have started to feed them meat-bird pellets yesterday. Much less wasted food and much less stink! They get additional Niacin and a Multi-Vitamin in their water.

As soon as this bag of flock raiser is gone, I am switching. What do you feed the crows. I now want to keep them around since they rescued Mini.

They usually eat the left-over soaked cracked corn from the ducks supper-bowl - together with the ducks who suddenly change their minds and think that corn is still delicious…
And i have a rock on which i put some scratch grain mix - which my ducks never eat, except for when they see the crows picking it up…

Again no duckling update today! - I was busy building the second bedroom in the duck-house:

Tomorrow the interior wall will be constructed and then i must think about how to guild two large horizontal doors, one for the front and one for the back of the house.

Duckling update:

I let them out today. They wanted out of the little house so bad and when i saw their almost fully feathered wings i opened the gate.

Cannot get over how much they have grown. Looks like they are enjoying all that room and freedom . So funny how the adults are with them have they met face to face yet?
