We ended up having to assist the other OE egg, thankfully hubs brought home the stuff we needed for the new indoor brooder. Poor guy, got everything out and it was rocking that egg like crazy but nothing since last night so I knew help was needed, it's out now after I got the opening rehydrated, but we'll see if it makes it. Wax egg piped under the wax so I scraped enough off so it can take it from there. Last egg no pips but baby is moving so I added more water and just waiting to see if they'll hatch too.
BUT! We have 7 babies! And it's like a chickie rainbow! And three have feathers on their legs!!! One is the all black one! View attachment 2140840View attachment 2140841View attachment 2140843View attachment 2140851
them too at this stage! we did some cuddles this morning with a few of them. I got a couple photos as well
The OE baby is slowly getting fluffy, it looks weakish and sleeping a lot so i'm keeping it in the incubator for now, it's still a little wet anyways, plus i'm hoping having it still in there will still help encourage the other two to hatch!

yes! I have that and nutridrench on hand so as soon as i can i'll be giving it a bit of a boost. hopefully with it sleeping a lot and being on it's own for now will give it that added chance to not get picked on by the others.

We did a photo shoot this morning with the littles,we also candled the two remaining eggs and they are still moving just very comfy or they are a day or two behind because of the power outage. not sure but since they are still moving in there i'm just leaving them for right now.
Babies!! Let's play Who do I belong to? this is the chick we assisted! It made it! This one is Dijon's baby has leg feathers. This one is easy too, Cajun's baby This one might be Sundae's or Hersey's? leg feathers, almost all black, kids named it Midnight. This one is pretty coloring, maybe Yoshi or Hopper? or maybe Syrup? we're just not sure This one same thing but also might be a brahma? the egg was a lighter color, nice amount of leg feathers. This was the first one born and it's Dijon's baby as well. no spots on their heads so maybe these ones will be girls Maybe another Australorp baby? no leg feathers on this one. we named it Licorice Another Cajun baby, this one is a little bitey, the other one was more chill.
We got in our new numbered zip tie leg bands for the young ones out in the barn area, so we'll be working on getting everyone tagged and put into the computer spreadsheet, and naming them! I got two packs because I know we'll have to change out the bands when they are almost full grown. I'm also figuring out which ones will be only egg layers and which ones I'll be breeding/ hatching from I'm unfortunately not going to be hatching anymore of Dijon's eggs, i'm not liking the temperament i'm seeing from them, same with Hopper, and Chase. which are RIR and golden comet.
Lots of things to think on, but first good hatch will hel us figure out which way we're going.
We lost Toasted this afternoon. Boys came in yelling that he was bleeding, went out and saw there was no way we could have helped him. I just ordered trail cameras too to help us figure out what was killing our flock and they are arriving tonight. I'm so upset right now.
