24 week Barred Rock won’t lay

At least yours is checking out the boxes! Mine hasn’t even done that. I haven’t let her free range for the last 3 days so I know she isn’t hiding any.

And then there's me who forgets "oh, my bird is like 6 months, it should start laying soon" and suddenly there's a new colored egg
Yes! I was so in love with having chickens in my backyard I forgot they would lay eggs too! I was totally shocked when my Orpington laid her first egg at 18 weeks on the dot. Then my EE was at 20 weeks, and I really wasn’t expecting her to lay that early! So I have been blessed to find that two tiny pullet eggs barely equal one large egg and now I am a crazy chicken lady greedy for more eggs!! 🤪 now this Barred Rock is teasing me and I have forgotten I have two more “littles” that will be 18 weeks on Wednesday! Maybe the 18 week old RIR will beat her to the nest! 🤣

Wow, that's early for an EE. Normally it's closer to 6 months.

I personally don't eat eggs and get too many even for the neighbors so the only time I look forward to eggs is to infertility tests

My EE was the first to lay at 16 weeks. To say I was shocked is an understatement
Wow! Yes, everything I read says 24 weeks at the earliest for EE. Hmm... maybe I CAN’T believe everything I read on the internet.🤣

Wow, that’s way early for an EE. All of my pullets are coming up on 24 weeks and none have laid yet. Maybe my EEs will beat my barred rock.
It would be cool to have those colored eggs surprise you!! I can’t keep holding my breath for this Barred Rock. Yesterday she sat in the nesting box, she built a nest around herself, she nuzzled the egg that was already there.....then she got up and left. She did’t even go near the coop today. 🤷‍♀️ I think she is a dud.
I’m going to start cheering for Demelza, my RIR. Maybe Dot the Barred Rock will get jealous. 🤣
