24 week Barred Rock won’t lay

All I’ve learned is my barred rock has a very fluffy butt I think I need a little more practice on butt checking.

This made me laugh so hard!
I ended up checking all of my chickens butts- so I could compare. All three have about 3 fingers width between the bones and they all have vents.
I am at a loss. I’m sure she isn’t laying in the yard. The others seemed very obvious when they were about to lay- this one is all over the place.

She is my biggest bird! Could she be too fat??

She looks beautiful and healthy! And her comb is nice and red. I have the feeling she'll be giving you eggs pretty quick.

My Barred Rock didn't lay until much later. My Welsummer didn't lay until past 30 weeks. C'mon now. They don't lay on your schedule.

Go paint your kitchen. Goodness....

I own barred rocks, for eggs, not meat. If she's not laying, and you are sure it's a "she" not a "he" I would adjust your flock's diet. DuMor has feeds for chick, starter/grower, grower/finisher and layer. It also comes with a timeline of which feed for which age. I would go to your local feed store looking for DuMor. I personally feed my chickens this and they lay good! I hope this helps
