250W light to much heat?

250W light/heat bulbs are on sale. But i think it would be to hot for my little banties. They are 4 months old but very small and it get pretty cold here. Is 250W to much? Thanks BYC!

Depending on how close the source is, I would
think. If they scatter away, it's too much.

It really depends on where your lamp is (type of brooder or coop) and the surrounding temps. I think I'd go with a smaller wattage bulb 100 or less simply placed a little lower. The lack of sale price can be made up with lower power costs.
