3rd Grade Project Turned Loved Family Chicken But What Is It???

So we think Boo is an Australorp, correct me if I'm wrong but is Boo a Hen or Rooster. We're a little confused because we thought it was a hen untill it started to crow on Tues. Boo is approximately 3 months old. Any help is appreciated.

When a rooster isn't around, a hen can crow - although it's a pretty pathetic crow in my experience.... but it's a way to attract a rooster if there is one within earshot.

Looks like Boo is a beautiful cockerel to me...

Looks like a rooster to me, especially if its crowing.

He is a rooster. See the curved tail feathers? I can't see because the photo is small, but I'll bet he has shiny, pointed feathers on his neck and at the base of his tail (hackle and saddle feathers) that indicate he is a rooster as well.

But it's usually an older dominant hen that crows. A bird under 8 months that crows is a rooster, as is this pretty boy. Looks like an australorp roo.

Thanks for all your help everyone. This is a little bitter sweet for us since we're not allowed to have a rooster in our town. But we're still gonna keep him untill some one complains because Boo's just the sweetest thing. He loves following us around the yard and sitting on us. It's the funniest thing, I think we kept him in our house to long because every night at 7 he's at our front door waiting to come in. So if any one has any suggestions on how to get him to start going to his coop at night, that would be great. Because chasing him around every night is not always a fun task.

It is almost certainly a roo, but my Australorp pullet has a comb and wattles bigger than that and lays HUGE eggs.
