4 month old hen laid a teeny tiny egg! Take a look see!!!

I love egg farts too! they are adorable. we get about 1 a month from our hens as some are up there in age, they aren't consistent sized anymore.

We also get "screamers" which really large eggs because, well, holy moly those are big eggs, I know I'd scream if I had to lay one that size!!! We're talking 2+ yolk sized eggs, extra extra jumbo! I should get a scale so I can weigh the sucker laid a few days ago, it filled my hand!

My four 1/2 month olds all just started laying too and they are also tiny little quail size eggs. DH just bought me a tiny drill bit, needle size, that I am going to use to try and drill out and blow out the adorable tiny green eggs my Ameraucanas have just started laying. None of the eggs being laid here are fart eggs - they are complete with yolks, just tiny. I'm not worried cause I hatched all these girls and they came out of large brown or large green eggs so I know they will get bigger. I'm actually surprised they started laying so young but then I read an article that said free range chickens can lay weeks ahead of cooped up chickens.

Well now it all makes more sense now. I was wondering why my hen laid so soon!

Fart(or Wind) eggs happen to both young and older birds. It happens quite a bit to burned-out laying hens, especially the production hybrids(sexlinks and such). It's just a glitch in the system. They are neat to find though.
