4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

Waaah!. Back from PO, they said, 'oh, yes. I saw a package for you, but we're not through sorting. Come back around 3 or 4'. I actually almost cried. Felt my throat start to close...tears were welling, then I contemplated jumping over the counter and GETTING MY eggs. Instead, I stood there and said, 'I'll wait'.

This didn't fly well with the clerk. She just stared at me. As did the 15 people in line behind me. It was then that I remembered how quickly I left the house and was still dressed in DH's flannel jammy pants, barn shoes and NO jacket, just a t-shirt. I retreated.

I will be HAPPY with the 32 other eggies I have to set. PLUS 4 from MsLadyHawke (she couldn't jam anymore into her Brinsea, so I'll be stacking em.

Good luck everyone!!

The one thing I don't know though, is that I have a bunch of staggered hatches in there, and I already took my picture of the duck eggs, but my chicken eggs for NYD won't be in the same carton (I guess I could move them), so I'm not sure if I should submit two different pictures, or move the duck eggs to the second tray, add the chicken eggs and then take a pic? Because by now, I could candle my duck eggs to see which ones are fertile (haven't yet, waiting til I submit and figure out this question), which could equal possible cheaters?

Hahaha! I would have done the same thing! Well except for the retreating part. It's amazing what you can achieve by just existing and making people vaguely uncomfortable just by standing nearby (especially dressed in PJs).

Sorry you don't have your eggs yet.

LOL! I feel for you! I hope they sort them quickly and you get your eggs! Even if they're set a little bit late, they might still be eager eggs and hatch early and give you the first NYD chick!

What did your tracking say? Mine weren't scanned around here, but maybe they don't scan until after sorting?

OK, My sis is doing my set, cause I'm at work... she takes a pic? with the clock in there? Is any clock ok?
sorry I'm so dumb... ugh.. .

I'm so excited! My ladies laid me a few more eggs, and my mystery eggs came yesterday... :) so I have those, plus some from a neighbor breeder that are lavandar marans to set (but I have to give the chicks back... )

I checked and my eggs were delivered to their new person yesterday... Hope they got there ok!!!
Do we find out who 'GOT' our eggs? and if they want to know what they ARE???? or do they just guess???? I also hope they arrived ok... sent two extras, but I'd like to know..... :-/

very exciting day!!!! three hours to go for us here in CA!!!

Can someone explain a couple of things about this NYD thing? What's this about pictures of eggs set and pictures of the first chick with an atomic clock in the same picture? And how do I do that?
I currently have 32 eggs in there from previous sets and a separate tray with 38 to 40 additional going in at noon.

I'm not technically challenged but I'm not clear on this. I have to admit I didn't read all the posts if this was already explained.
Okay I will post this thread again......Take a picture of the eggs you set post here
Pictures of first chick will be with the clock hatch for first chick hatched. which is at a later date.

actually, im hoping the time wont come. my hovabator wont heat up. 3 degrees too cool.

I cant seem to make it go up, i will turn the knob a few turns but it always stays the same.

I would incubate in the brinsea, I have a brinsea octagon eco 20 auto turn, works like a charm! Has hatched every single fertile egg i set in it, none with deformities. Easy to keep humidity and I know the temp will never spike, i could leave on day one come back day 17 and the temp would be fine. (then again the humidity would be a bit bad lol)

I am upgrading to this as soon as I can afford it. Love, love, love my brinsea mini advanced!
