4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

I hang out on Stella's Social Club (pictures & stories of your chickens forum), the swap threads and the Icelandic, Heritage Large Fowl and German New Hampshire threads.

It won't be long and the Easter Hatchalong thread will start!! In the past it always started on Ground Hog's Day but since Easter is March 31 instead of April something, maybe they will start it early! Set day for Muscovies will be February 24, and so-on from there...people will be needing to get things lined up.

and they dont exist until we see pics!!!
No, not that long. If they make it three days then they should be fine. They need baby vitamins without iron and electrolytes.

The cold causes organ damage. They eventually die from organ failure.

Just a drop on the beak per chick and put electrolytes in the water. Make sure the beak is down so they do not get it into the lungs. If they perk up, then just give them electrolytes. If they are still acting sick, give them another drop in the evening or the next morning.

For pasty butt, plain yogurt(Keefir or etc.), scrambled eggs and chick grit. TSC usually has chick grit. Make sure you do not use parakeet grit(--has calcium). Pasty butt is related to stress and shipped chicks get it much more often than hatched chicks.
