Sally..we need to find some cochin eggs for next hatch

I give up on them... I have some disapointment, only because I let myself get so excited lol
I will wait a few weeks and hatch my own when these eggs get bigger. I have a beautiful young blue roo over a lovely blue and a black..... and all unrelated. I was very picky about bringing in new birds. The roo was to be temp but he looks gorgous now and does his job quite well, as the first egg ever laid was fert! Go Blue Go!! lol

No, not that long. If they make it three days then they should be fine. They need baby vitamins without iron and electrolytes.

The cold causes organ damage. They eventually die from organ failure.
baby vitamins? like baby baby??? good to know to have on hand come feb!! what dosage?
Just a drop on the beak per chick and put electrolytes in the water. Make sure the beak is down so they do not get it into the lungs. If they perk up, then just give them electrolytes. If they are still acting sick, give them another drop in the evening or the next morning.

For pasty butt, plain yogurt(Keefir or etc.), scrambled eggs and chick grit. TSC usually has chick grit. Make sure you do not use parakeet grit(--has calcium). Pasty butt is related to stress and shipped chicks get it much more often than hatched chicks.

I'll have to go take some pictures, and I will definitely take a picture of the packaging for you. And yes, ideal will reship or refund any that die within 4 days of the hatch date. I don't know about a critical time, but they look really good so far. I did have one chick that had a slipped achilles tendon, but I got it back in place. Looks like it will heal nicely, but the chick isn't too happy about the brace. I also purchased the gorgel for them, and they loved it.

I'm thinking that I'll have them reship any that die, and order more to make up the 25 again since they extended the sale. I'll raise them all to 3 months, and then I'll have to pick my favorites.

I haven't checked on them yet this morning, I'm sick and they are out in the old farm house. Guess some chick therapy would do me good though, right? hahaha.

Yes, but sometimes they need the extra kick of the B vitamins in the infant drops. It is great for Wry neck or star gazing too. There are some Rooster Booster vitamins out there also.

I have save a chick pro biotics and that can take the place of the yogurt.

I had a shipment of dead and dying chicks last year from a chick shipment and then the replacement shipment. I learned a lot with them.

The grogel plus B that I bought from ideal says that it includes protein, probiotics, vitamins, and energy and the chicks loved it. It was only $3.95, so you could always add that to your order if your interested.

I know that patients in a good thing but how long does one have to wait for the Holiday Photo Contest to go to vote?
Beginning to think that Ravenwood and I are the only ones that care. Also think that maybe we are blocked so the managers don't have to respond to us. WE are being ignored in the PMs also.

One thing per 100 chicks. So unless you're ordering more than 100, it's just $3.95. The little guys really did love it. If I do order from ideal again next week (I'm really tempted too) I'll definitely buy more grogel.

Even though I know I put alot of time and effort into winning as they did setting this all up. I think they all got sick or something, a cyber bug??

There were some hardships with the runners of this one, I pray they are all hanging in there and dealing with the issues that came by them at a hard part of the year. But seriously I dont feel I have been here long enough to try to straighten it all out either. I only know of Nifty I dont know all the other mods and stuff.

I think at this point we need to just ask about the Easter hatch and see who is in charge and see if we can help make things go more smoother, learn from mistakes I guess????? I think the first thing to be done is a graph of the site threads/Articles and how they will be organized and used, sorta like a family tree of sorts! This seemed to be a major downfall for this hatch. sometimes too much BS and questions and info was easily missed. So articles should be used for the main stuff.

How have other hatches gone? is this just an unfortunate one?
