it popped that little bit of shell off, and is sitting there with it's nose hole right under it so it can breathe and is resting. *taps fingers*Sweet!![]()
Did it make it out yet?!![]()
This is my first time with them. I'm worried because so many people have said they're usually the first to hatch.Oh good, things are starting to happen for you too. Have you hatched seramas before, do they usually take a little longer? I haven't ever hatched any?
My camra messed up again hold on a few minutes will I fix it . the wireing in side or something is wonky so if I move my lap top or bump the cord sometimes it turns it off
Was gonna say same thingThat is normal and not a problem! 95 is the temp you want for them in the Brooder. Let it go and it will be fine.
When they hatch the humidity can go over 90%
X2 honestlyI think I love Brinsea! They have such cool incubators and that warmer is awesome, and they gave us such nice prizes!!! That was really great of them.
And no, I don't work for them, LOL, I just think it was really nice and want them to know that it probably will create a customer.... when I have money to spend, ROFL
thanks, i did it and everything went great! little guy/girl was ready to come out!If it's drying out you may need to help it out. There is really 2 membranes: one around the chick and the outer one. The outer one, just under the shell, is okay to peel away. It's the one around the chick you have to watch. If it is dry you can use a q-tip to moisten it. That way you can see if there are an blood vessels still visible. If there aren't, you can help it out some if it's not making much progress. Just go slowly and see any blood stop immediately and replace in the incubator.
When they're on their backs, they can't breath so well. Newborns don't have their coordination yet, If you can open the lid, try righting it, it should be better thenWe have 8 chicks!
We set 37, 3 never made it to lock down, but we were pretty sure that 8 or 9 others didn't have a chance.
Since this was our first hatch, we put in anything that wasn't cracked. Nothing smelled, so even the ones that looked empty, we decided not to toss.
So sad not one Welsummer has pipped.
Congrats again to all the winners! Great pictures, great posts!
One question, if a chick is laying on its back, gasping for an extended period of time, is that an indication it will not make it?
