does anyone know anyone with blue jersey giants?? i think i came across someone saying they have the breed but ive never even seen one before! do they exist? they sound like they would be nice to add to my flock!

Ran a test batch on the 16th. Pullets were only 26 weeks when we began to collect eggs. I was going to use this as a test run as I currently only have a Little Giant in operation, and the pullets are so young. We sat 37 eggs, with hopes of a few being viable. Candled tonight and ended up with 27, much better than I was hoping for.

Come time to set for New Years I should have a functioning Cabinet set up. And with any luck I'll have even better fertility/viability of the eggs by then.

That is great! The time if year can be a factor too.

OK here is a pic.

The splash and the lavender look the same in the pic but the splash have more spotting and the lavenders are more solid.

I edited my original post so the date of setting hatch along eggs read 11th not the 12th.

Don't hate me, but I WILL be bidding against you....Jus Kiddin! But they do look very nice. I like the cushion on the girl on the left and lots of breast flowers on the one on the right. Yup, they're pretty sweet. My best typed MF Cochin girl is watching TV with us currently. Normally I'm not a fan of inside chickens, but this one has been having leg problems and I think her Roo is making things worse, so she's 'on break'.

If you like those check out chooklits calico/Cochin's. They are outrageously fabulous!!!
