I use an auto turner until lock down then lay them down on the side( the side they like) for hatch. I haven't tried a carton before.

I like the carton because the chicks that hatch first do not mess much with the chicks still hatching.I use an auto turner until lock down then lay them down on the side( the side they like) for hatch. I haven't tried a carton before.
Awesome! Congrats! I think that hatching eggs is such a great experience for kids.My eggs arrived today YAY all arrived safely and I even gots 8 extras. We got White, Blue, Black, Splash and Paint Silkies. These were a gift for my 11year old DD. She was so excited opening them all up so careful so she didn't shake them. She is asking to put the incubator in her room so she can hatch them. I think I just might do it.![]()
Here is my DD with her eggs for the hatch along

Hatcheries hatch like this because studies have shown that it increases the hatch rate.
Clean up is easier too since a bunch of the hatching junk is in the egg carton already.

They can get caught in the turner because of the spacing. I only cut the top off of the egg cartons for air flow.I'll have to give it a try. Would the turner work in place of a tray?
If you're getting them from DMdrippy, have no fear, those eggs are wrapped TIGHT, I got my Rhodebars from her and broke one myself just trying to unwrap the un naturally strong bubble wrap. I should have taken pics...
