6 week old chicks outside?

I put my 4 barred rock chicks out in the coop at 5 weeks old. They absolutely love it, and are doing wonderful. I've also got 4 bantam orpingtons who are outside in my garage with no heat lamp, and they are doing great too. It sometimes just amazes me at how "technical" everything has become. I love my chickens dearly, but I do think that you can pamper them too much. Geez, how did people raise chicks before there were heat lamps?

I have 2 little ones that are about a month old I think and one that is about 2 weeks old and they are out in the big coop with the adults. They have their old plastic tub house in the coop with straw and seem to be doing quite well.

They did just fine, we are going to add on to our coop, so they can go in there soon. Seven more to get out of the house, 5 of them are a cross between a white leghorn hen and a feathered footed belgium bearded d'uccle. the are feathered foot leghorns
