The one I got was light gray. The eggs I got were very muddy so it got mixed in accidentally. I think they start out black to gray and get lighter as they lay.

I don't know. There is a dark spot up near the air cell but I have no idea what it means. It's an Ameraucana blue egg and I always have the worst luck trying to candle them.
Nah, I tried before but the pictures didn't come out.
An eyeball! ?? It's tiny body?? Give it a couple of more days..you will be seeing a lot more!
At 5 days old?
I'm pretty sure the mass is too big to be a developing embryo. But, I'll know more on the 18th.

With all this talk of candling I carefully took a sneak peek... my 7 shipped HAL eggs look great! Looks like 5 maybe 6 with embryos developing! Pretty amazing for shipped Serama eggs, I'm kind of shocked.
On the other hand, my 14 Silkie eggs are a couple days ahead and I couldn't see a single one developing. Hopefully I just can't see them yet, some of the eggs are pretty porous...
Now I can leave them alone for a while.
