6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

The possible duck egg is the off white/dirty one:

It would possibly be from a young Cayuga duck. The eggs are never in the elevated nest box, often outside near the duck pool on the ground. Always that weird color, been going on for over a month, and I set 6 of them, one was fertile and looked to be doing great till no movement at lockdown candling.

Oh I know, we have been hatching for years now, I just can't remember if the eggs were this dark inside on week three!

My duck is on week three and the eggs look all dark inside. I candled today and was kinda sad I couldn't see anything.

Trying for another site. :)

I had a surprise Cayuga egg in my last batch of Anconas. The egg was rather gray so I thought it might be, and sure enough, an all black duckling hatched out of it.

now I am confused.. I thought the increased humidity had a potential for drowning the eggs? I had imagined that ment the water filled up in the air sac area?

The evaporation of the water sprayed on the egg cools it and helps it dry out--it will make the air cell grow faster. It is not the same as humidity--It does not add humidity.
