6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

Tommysgirl: dominiques seem like a cool breed. They look alot like my cuckoo Marans. I can get those hatching eggs locally for $2 per dozen. I may try them

Yay!!! sounds like a plan. I hope it is successful and you get a great hatch rate!!
Sweet!

Yes, which is why the cold is not as bad as heat for hatching eggs. I think it was Mitch last year or the year before that hatched eggs that had been frozen but the shell was not cracked.

I did do some poking around and there have been some studies on it.

Eggs are amazing!
Wow!

My incubator arrived!!!

Trying to decide what to hatch.... REALLY want to find some good Tolbunt Polish eggs... Anyone know a good source?

Ron what temp should I be aiming for here... 3 thermometers ( one is a factory type glass, one is wafer, one is very reliable digital)
2 are reading about 101, 1 is reading 95 something...

Get the thermometer to egg level and shoot for 99.9 to 100. It is better to be a bit above 99.5 for fan forced incubators.

are the thermometers calibrated?
