6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

not the duck sounding chickens, but I took this of one of my NYD girls this summer...she randomly started walking around throwing sticks on her back! I wonder what for!!

Did she go broody...that was funny, she did it often!

SUPER EGGCITED for all the new contests, Looks like I will be keeping Houdini company in the duck dog house on nye to watch and wait! It is kinda chilly here right now, so hopefully the temps will warm up for her and her fluffy butts.

I am going over to my friends house tomorrow evening to set another ten chickens eggs to see if we can get some to hatch, our other 7 didn't do anything. Wish us luck with this batch.

That's a bummer you cant have a rooster. They can be so great.

I know right? I even bought one of those rooster collars that is supposed to help tone down the sound. Didn't work on my silkie, figured it wouldn't work on a LF. :/

He said the cut off date was Saturday so I guess I had to tell him by then too. She and I saw veins on Monday, that is when they were found.

If they look like they are all in the right time frame as the hatch set day then it is fine to add them.

Well, while I was turning the eggs tonight, I gave in and (for educational purposes!), I decided to candle one of them. My DH was watching and picked one...I did a quick candle and it has veins!!!!!!

These were the shipped eggs that took from Monday to Friday to reach me. It's a long way to go, but I'm happy that at least one of my eggs is giving it the ole college try.

So happy dance for this first time hatcher.

Well, I know it's too late to be in this. But I have enjoyed reading and chatting with everybody. And I'm not going to stop because I've got EGGS coming in tomorrow. They will be set too late but who cares. I'm just joining the fun.

I've never shipped eggs but if you are interested in LF bbs orps or Buff Brahmas I'd send you some. I've received shipped eggs so I think I can pack them fine just haven't been through the shipping process.
