what breed do you have that lays blue eggs? I had a blue egg layer but she is taking the winter off or I accidentally sold her thinking she was a white egg layer.

They are Ancona ducks! The eggs they hatched from were blue and white and the last ten ducks I hatched were from white eggs so I am really excited to have a blue layer. I hope yours starts up again and that you didn't sell her...

ok please can I get some clarification here.............the side the air sac sags down into the egg should be up or down? also I had noticed some darker spots at the pointy end of the eggs what is this? is it mold is it the chicks pipping at wrong end of the membrane? is it my imagination creating problems not there or? whew I am getting really anxious and eggcited...so temperature should go down to 98 from 99.5?

also usingm an egg carton so we stop turning eggs and leave them all in the egg cartoon flat? I mean leave the egg carton flat with the eggs in the egg holes? should I put my eggs on their side in the egg cartoon?

Just wanted to say thanks to all that answered my humidity question. I had put some paper towels down on top of the wire to help prevent the chicks from getting their feet caught and it soaked up the water from the channels making the humidity go up. Usually I was shelf liner stuff, but I was out, guess they will be ok on the wire though. Took the paper towels out and the humidity is already going down. Lock down is tomorrow and I am so eggcitited... Here's a pic of my "bator" room. Love it and it's nice because the temps and humidity stay constant most of the time. Luckily my son doesn't mind sharing his closet with his crazy egg hatching momma.

Two bators for incubating and 1 for hatching. Going to start working on a big cabinet bator soon.
