6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

Just talked to Laverne the neighbor who provided all the blue/green eggs and he tells me his flock is full of a whole bunch of breeds as well araucana! He's as much a fan of mixed breeds as I am and he says I can have hatching eggs for free anytime I wanna hatch

!!! His plan this year is to get a pure bred araucana roo and get rid of all the roo's he has now to help strengthen the blue egg colour in his flock. Also so far two chickies have hatched with fuzzy legs one black one and one yellow one. pics coming soon! also I managed to record the last 15 min of one of the chicks zipping and popping out of the egg. I will speed up the playback so its only a minute or so and post it in a while as well.

Like 4 more chicks just hatched!! There are only a few eggs left in the bator

UPDATE!! We heard some cheeping!! So we should have at least one hatch -fingers crossed for two, don't need a lonely chick- Congrats to all who have chicks!!

OMG OMG OMG. Hubby just texted.. My side pipper broke out on his own!!!!

That's great news. ♡ My breech chick hatched relatively easily all on her own, too. She appears to be happy and healthy!

Here is my first hatch out of an incubator.

Are those Australorps?? I'm in love!!

Two more Australorps are out and I may have a pip on one of the three eggs remaining!

ok can someone tell me why the chicks are so darn mezmerizing to watch I go to check on them and end up sitting and watching them for an hour.....

and why do I keep looking up on ebay for eggs to hatch hrmmm?
