6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

I have four australorps out and one more has a pip. Much better than I thought I would have when my DW called and said the bottom of the box was soggy....

Three of them are blue!

When is your second set due? Soon?
Saturday....which cannot come soon enough.

ok can someone tell me why the chicks are so darn mezmerizing to watch I go to check on them and end up sitting and watching them for an hour.....

and why do I keep looking up on ebay for eggs to hatch hrmmm?
They are little teeny enablers in the purest form.

You've got a FEVAH! And the only prescription is MORE CHICKENS!

A little more cowbell couldn't hurt either!

LOVELOVELOVE. Is it possible for two black BAs (maybe with a recessive blue gene each, unknown) to produce a blue chick? I've got two in the brooder right now that look like your blue babies....... Possible or right out?? I'm praying the Gods of Chicken Genetics heard my silent plea and sent me a random blue Lorp! ♡ MrsB

Read once that looking into baby face's (human & animal), produce endorphins in our bodies; to ensure they are going to be loved!

You will have to wait until they grow out but usually the black australorp is bred to a blue orpington or blue langhsan to get blue australorps. The next generations would need to be selectively bred to get the Australorp shape back.
