That does look dry. Hmm...I bet GAM would know what to do. Are those EE eggs?

They are. It's not that I think anything needs to be done.. If nothing else I'll wait til all others are out/dry and then help? I just can't figure out what the heck? Why is that one so dry? It's very active though.

Any idea why one membrane would look so dry and the rest are perfectly white? It has definitely not been pipped longer either.

It's not that I'm worried for baby at this point.. Just think it's weird.

I There is likely broken yolk in the egg. Make sure the chick is able to breath and keep an eye on it. The chick may get stuck but it may hatch fine.

Oh ok. So she's a Silkie. Yeah I've had a couple of mine lay an egg are two when they first go broody after me taking the other hens eggs away from them. Sorry. I hope they hatch in the bator for you!

Thanks!! She's actually a silkie cochin mix. She was back on her nest a few minutes ago when I checked... but she got up to see if I brought snacks when I came in. She's definitely not fully broody any more... but I still might be able to sneak the chicks back under her at night if they hatch. Of course, I would like to have them hatch but it's not the end of the world if they don't. I'll be hatching plenty more in the spring. I just don't like to break broody hens. She wanted chicks and I wanted to make her happy. She's usually a great mom. I guess she just sat too long this time.

I took the NYD chicks out the meet the flock. Needless to say, they were less than impressed. Lol!

They didn't get too much outside time, it's still pretty cold.

They came from @PapaBrooder in Redding, CA to Blacksburg, VA. 2730 miles! Plus, the hatch rate was fantastic. 7 of 8 hatched.
