6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

To update.. I left the house for an hour and a half.. Came back and my chicks had tripled, from three to six- including the yellow-membrane one. No idea which one that is but all look just fine.

One to go and I'll have a 100% lockdown-to-hatch rate. I'm getting the hang of this!!!!!

Nice!

Membranes are bad when they turn brown.

I got some brahma eggs from him last summer (I'm in GA).. All developed but I killed them :doh

So I snagged some Partridge Brahma CHICKS from his cyber Monday sales.. They'll be here before I know it!! Can't wait to add some new blood to my own PBs :D

They came from @PapaBrooder in Redding, CA to Blacksburg, VA.  2730 miles! Plus, the hatch rate was fantastic. 7 of 8 hatched.

That's awesome! That gives me hope for my eggs that I just set yesterday from Oregon to South Texas.

I think packaging, and how the postal service handles them are more important than how far they travel. They were the best hatch rate out of 4 sets of shipped eggs. They did have the best packaging, and a heat pack, but if the box gets tossed around, then even the best packaging won't protect them completely. I got 7 eggs from LA, which is half the distance, that all had wibbly wobbly air cells, and none developed. I was super sad about those, they were Pencil Rocks. I had another set that had no development, either. It's just a roll of the dice with shipped eggs. I hope yours arrive safely!
